A scratch-off sticker (QR) + NFC chip is manufactured, then placed in each copy.
The reader unlocks
They scratch and scan the QR to reserve the book, then hold their phone near the NFC to unlock it.

Will digital cannibalize my print sales?
No. Digital access is unlocked by the physical purchase itself (NFC + QR). It's a bonus that adds value to the print book, not a substitute.
How is the system anti-fraud?
Dual-factor: the QR reserves the book, but only the NFC scan, which requires physical possession, unlocks the download. A photo of the QR is not enough.
How many codes can I order?
From 10 to 50,000 codes per batch, with the option of multiple batches for the same title (successive print runs).
Is our authors' text modified?
No. The EPUB is delivered as is and synchronization is computed on the reader's phone. No text is generated, and your titles are never used to train an AI.
How does billing work?
You buy a batch of codes, at a tiered price based on volume, plus the cost of the stickers. You then sell your books as usual, at the price you set, and the dashboard shows you the codes actually activated.
What does the reader get with the code?
The digital version of the book, in the Ember Read app. Immersion, synchronization with a connected intimate object, is bought separately in the app, with credits or the Infinite Pass.
