Do I keep my rights?
Yes. You grant us only a distribution authorization within the application. You remain the full owner of your work and can withdraw it.
Do I have to pay to publish?
No. Publishing is free. Then you choose how to sell: yourself, on your site or at fairs (you keep 100% and give the buyer an access code), on Ember Read (the reader buys it on emberread.com and you receive 70% of the price excluding taxes), or with a specific agreement. Immersion, for its part, is purchased separately by the reader.
My book is exclusive to Kindle Unlimited (KDP Select): can I publish it?
Not that particular book: KDP Select prohibits any digital distribution elsewhere during enrollment, even for free. You can, however, entrust us with another text: a book outside KDP Select, or unreleased content (bonus scene, short story, prequel). Ember Read requires no exclusivity.
What formats do you accept?
The EPUB format. If you don't have it yet, we'll help you prepare your file.
What genres are you looking for?
Romance and adult romance in all its forms: dark romance, mafia, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, age gap, and many more. We do, however, refuse any sexual scene involving a character who is a minor or presented as such, or a real identifiable person, as well as plagiarism.
How does Ember Read make money?
Through immersion: readers buy immersion credits or the Infinite Pass to synchronize their reading. This revenue goes to Ember Read, with no payout to authors. That's what allows us to take no commission on the sale of your books. A reader can always buy your book without buying credits.
Do you use AI on my text?
No. Synchronization relies on our proprietary algorithm, computed on the reader's phone: it does not modify your text and produces none. Your book is never used to train an AI, nor handed over to anyone who would do so.
