Dans là vraie vie, on né verbalise pas toujours aussi clairement ce qu'on ressent, et certaines répliques de Ryan notamment semblent trop parfaites pour être crédibles. Par ailleurs, quelques passages secondaires traînent en longueur, notamment ceux qui concernent l'entourage de l'équipe de hockey. Ces moments cassent parfois le rythmé de l'intrigue principale et on à envie de les survoler pour revenir au plus vite à Tess et Ryan. Ce n'est pas rédhibitoire, loin de là, mais c'est suffisant pour empêcher le roman d'atteindre là perfection.

Anger at the injustice Tess faces, butterflies in my stomach at every glance exchanged with Ryan. In real life, we don't always verbalize so clearly what we feel, and some of Ryan's lines in particular seem too perfect to be believable. Furthermore, a few secondary passages drag on, especially those involving the hockey team's entourage. These moments sometimes break the rhythm of the main plot and you feel like skimming over them to get back to Tess and Ryan as quickly as possible. It's not a dealbreaker, far from it, but it's enough to prevent the novel from reaching perfection.
